📋 Veterinary Administration & Dosage Guidelines

Tylan 200 is a highly concentrated injectable antibiotic. Dosing must be calculated strictly based on the animal’s exact body weight, following a veterinarian's prescription.

General Guidance:

  • Administration Route: Administer strictly via Intramuscular (IM) injection deep into the muscle tissue (such as the neck area). Do not administer intravenously or subcutaneously.
  • Typical Clinical Dosage:
    • Cattle: Inject 4 to 8 mg of tylosin per pound of body weight (2 to 4 mL per 100 lbs) once daily.
    • Swine: Inject 4 mg of tylosin per pound of body weight (1 mL per 50 lbs) twice daily.
  • Volume Restriction: To minimize localized tissue irritation, do not inject more than 10 mL per injection site in cattle, and no more than 5 mL per injection site in swine.
  • Duration: Continue treatment for 24 hours after clinical symptoms have disappeared, not to exceed a maximum of 5 consecutive days.

⚠️ Critical Withdrawal Periods (Time Before Slaughter/Milking):

  • Cattle: Animals must not be slaughtered for human consumption within 21 days of the last treatment.
  • Swine: Animals must not be slaughtered for human consumption within 14 days of the last treatment.
  • Dairy Restriction: Do not use in lactating dairy cattle, as it will contaminate the milk supply.

⚠️ Important Veterinary Health & Safety Information

  • Visual Description & Symptoms: The product consists of a sterile, clear to slightly yellow amber solution stored inside a 50ml glass vial with a rubber protective seal. It is typically sought after when livestock display acute clinical signs of severe illness, such as labored breathing, deep coughing, nasal discharge (pneumonia), severe limping with swollen hoof tissue (foot rot), or bloody/watery diarrhea in swine herds.
  • Three Potential Mismanagement Risks: To ensure herd safety and maximize effectiveness, avoid application mistakes which include:
    1. Injecting the product intravenously (IV), which can lead to sudden anaphylactic shock or severe cardiac reactions.
    2. Failing to rotate injection sites when multiple daily treatments are required, causing severe localized muscle soreness.
    3. Ignoring the mandatory withdrawal periods, which violates strict agricultural laws regarding food-safe livestock production.
  • Label & Storage Warning: Do not allow horses or other equine species access to this medication, as tylosin injection can be highly toxic or fatal to them. Always verify the expiration date and batch code printed on the box before use. Store at controlled room temperature and protect from freezing or direct sunlight.
